Experiences

I'm Veronica Brackett, and I love to sew! I love clothes, shoes, fashion, art and music. But sewing, it’s my passion. So much so that I didn’t even realize that is was my passion. It’s what I always did!

Sewing was required by my mother. She had me and my older sister get sewing lessons. We were already helping her pin, mark and cut. I took my first formal sewing lesson at the age of ten, at a local fabric store.

After high school I attended Ray Vogue School and studied fashion design. Actually is wasn’t something that I decided to do on my own. My mom helped me finger that out! ” you never sew anything the way the pattern shows it! Have you ever thought of being a Fashion Designer?” I won first place for my Evening wear design in the schools competition. After I left school I worked as a Pattern Grader. First for a mass production dress company. Then for a designer who specialized in high end separates. There I was also a Pattern grader, I also made markers and painted fabric, along with designing and sewing for clients and sometimes making samples for other designers from my home.

I began working for a major fabric store while still working from home in the late eighties as a sales person. Some time later I was asked to put together an accessory demo along with a few other employees, which was very successful. As time went on I realized that I enjoyed teaching others about the sewing process. I was then asked to turn my demos into classes.

I’ve been teaching sewing classes and conducting workshops for over 25years. In the past three years I’ve closed my custom sewing business and have placed most of my attention on my new passion, teaching others how to sew and create their own wardrobes and sewn creations.

Sewing is still my passion. It’s done a lot more for me. Its a world of its own. Sewing is not only a skill, it’s an Art. Art can heal… if you’re willing. Go on this journey with me.
